Batman Villains - Catwoman
Catwoman at times played a few different roles in the history of Batman. Most often portrayed as some kind of morally ambiguous burglar who seemed to continually have her master plans foiled by Batman. Although a criminal to the core, she often used her power to punish animal rights violators.
Catlike Thief
The Catwoman's real name was Selina Kyle and despite her criminal mindset, the seemingly very wealthy Ms. Selina Kyle, often used her power, time and money to fight for the rights of the animals of Gotham City. Not the two footed kind, but rather the four footed furry type of animal. She first met Bruce Wayne after a $10,000 investment at a charity dinner bought her a date with the charming billionaire superhero.
While these two were courting, yet another crime wave was running rampant in Gotham city as a cat burglar worked their way through the city, stealing precious items. Catwoman's crimes were always quick, efficient and almost "cat" like, at least until she ran into the Batman. Despite failing to catch the thief, Catwoman became quite infatuated with the Dark Knight.
Catwoman Revealed
At some point in the history of Catwoman, Selina had made plans to set up a wildlife preserve but that was foiled when the Multigon corporation purchased the land out from under here whiskers. Despite having an ally in the billionaire Bruce Wayne, their arguments fell on deaf ears and Multigon proceded to build a resort on the property.
Taking matters into her own paws, Catwoman broke into the Mutligon complex and despite her best efforts, she was discovered and in fact followed. The Multigon corporation sent spies to follow her and discovered her true identity as Selina Kyle. Assassins attempted to kill Selina on the highway, but Bruce Wayne's evasive driving saved them both.
Catwoman became ever concerned about the true nature of Multigon, and broke into the facility created in the mountains. She was captured, and tied together with Batman. Red Claw had stolen a plague and activated it to kill the two. However, Catwoman broke them free, and (at Batman's urgencies) escaped from the facility.
While Batman destroyed the plague, Catwoman faced Red Claw. Red Claw had superior martial training; Catwoman, however, made better use of her environment. An approaching mountain lion tackled Red Claw, and the terrorist was arrested. Reuniting with Batman, she proposed a team-up considering their mutual attractions. Despite his own feelings, the Dark Knight arrested Catwoman and she was subsequently sentenced to jail.
Catwoman Returns
Upon her release from prison the Catwoman made a number of appearances in the world of Batman over the years and often made a bittersweet enemy of The Dark Knight. They had an obvious attraction for each other but the war between good and evil is a hard fought battle. The Dark Knight can always be counted on to do the right thing and the Catwoman cannot be trusted around shiny objects. Maybe a modern day Romeo and Juliet?
