The Dark Knight Movie
The Dark Knight is the latest release of the superhero films based on the DC Comics character Batman.This is a follow up to the 1st movie of this type that was released in 2005 called Batman Begins.Batman Begins pumped life back into a Batman franchise that had lain dormant for over 8 years.Christopher Nolan will return to take the helm as director while Christian Bale again takes the role of the Batman aka The Dark Knight.
Batman's primary adversary in this film is once again the Joker played by Heath Ledger.In fact this is the last film Heath Ledger was involved with before his tragic passing.The film is inspired and based around the Jokers early appearances in the Batman Comic Book series.The film was primarily shot in the city of Chicago as was its predecessor Batman Begins.
The Batsuit has been revamped for this movie with a cowl allowing Bale to move his head more freely than previous incarnations of the famous Batman costume.We are sure to see a host of gadgets that Batman has become famous for over the years and many are anticipating the first appearance of the Batcyclein this movie.
The Warner Bros. studio has created an aggressive viral marketing campaign for The Dark Knight in order to build anticipation for the movie.They have developed dozens of websites revealing small details of the film, such as screenshots and other hints to the plot of the movie.They are trying to reward the loyal Batman fans and build anticipation with new Batman Movie fans.
Heath Ledger's death on January 22, 2008 has invoked a little bit of handwringing on the part of movie execs as the Joker had been the primary focus of the marketing campaign.From what I have seen Ledger will provide a MASTERFUL portrayal of the Joker and this movie is going to be awesome.
A few other marketing ploys have been developed including a new toy line as well as an animated DVD anthology titled Batman: Gotham Knight that is set between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. The film will be released on July 17, 2008 in Australia, on July 18, 2008 in North America, and on July 25, 2008 in the United Kingdom.
Batman collectibles have already started hitting the market as this Batman movie is expected to be the best one yet.
